The word Dhirra is the Gamilaraay word for "flash" or "posh". It is the more upmarket of the three cabins. Built of mud brick, the cabin has a main kitchen/living room with four single bunks, a double bedroom and a bathroom with shower, flush toilet and laundry facilities. Dhirra is on mains power, so there is hot and cold running water, an electric oven, a fridge and a microwave. There is a stone barbeque and outdoor furniture for alfresco dining. In winter, Dhirra is heated by a slow combustion fire. In summer the thermal mass of the mud bricks keeps the cabin cool. Dhirra is the closest cabin to the homestead. |
